About Advalight

About Us

Founded in 2006, Advalight is the company behind the groundbreaking dual wavelength ADVATx laser.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, with sales and service offices in San Diego, CA, Advalight has developed, patented, and commercialised ADVATx for dermatology and aesthetic medicine.

Available in over 50 countries, ADVATx supports dermatological and aesthetic practices through a global network of distributors.

The story of Advalight began when Danish professor Peter Bjerring, MD, presented a core problem of lasers in dermatology to graduate students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Dr. Bjerring believed that existing laser technologies were too expensive, required too much maintenance, and caused too many side effects. He saw the need to modernise the field with solid-state laser technology to create yellow wavelength lasers that were simple to use and easy to maintain.

Two PhD students at DTU, Jesper L. Mortensen and Morten Thorhauge, had already developed ideas on emitting yellow light using simpler technology, so they took up the challenge.

In 2006, they assembled a team, secured funding, patented the technology, and began exploring the potential of solid-state yellow light lasers in dermatology.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bjerring played a key role in the clinical validation of this new laser technology. The problem had found its solution, and the journey toward laser treatment with better clinical outcomes and enhanced patient comfort had begun.
